I had known for a long time that there was a stone carving school in the Maggia Valley in Ticino. When I hiked in the mountains there with my wife for a week in 2005 and we met the owners of the Scuola di Scultura di Peccia and learned that there were also courses for wood carving with a chainsaw, it was immediately clear that I would work with wood.
